Cannabis Sativa or hemp is natural grassy herb that origins from Central Asia, commonly known as “cannabis” or “marijuana”, it has been widely used by traditional cultures to treat health conditions.
With a long history dating thousands of years ago, cannabis as a plant is one of the oldest utilized in the different traditional medical treatments. After long period of prohibition cannabis is undergoing a global reaffirmation, reinforced with vast number of clinical studies proving its multiple medical benefits.
The most widespread varieties from the Cannabis species are: Cannabis Sativa, Indica and Ruderalis.
Kanoil Oily Extracts
Cannabis oily extract used in KANOIL products is Hemp oil obtained from naturally grown Cannabis with certified purity (absence of pesticides and herbicides).
The extraction process is performed under highest standards, at a low temperature in order to preserve all-natural important components, without use of organic solvents, which provides its highest quality.
This extract is one of the biological most valuable natural extracts, containing variety of precious components like: 60 terpenophenolic components – cannabinoids which are not present in any other plant.
Terpenes
Besides cannabinoids, KANOIL hemp oils contain also terpenes, essential oils liable for scent and taste of cannabis products, which may also modulate the cannabinoids effect. Primary terpenes and their properties are shown in Image 3.
Other natural ingredients
KANOIL hemp oils also contain omega fatty acids (omega-3, omega-6, omega-9), flavonoids, phytosterols, amino acids, glycosides, vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, C, D, E, F), pigments, alkanes, nitrogen compounds, important for the cell formation, metabolic processes, maintenance of function of many systems and overall improvement of general wellbeing.
Unlike pharmaceutical forms containing single synthetic cannabinoids, in natural, full-spectrum cannabis products, huge importance refers to the synergistic action of all preserved components. Each of these phyto-components has its specific effect; however, the complex natural composition and components synergism is of ultimate importance for the improvement of the psychophysical wellbeing of the human body.
Cannabinoids
Cannabinoids gain an increasing affirmation due to their therapeutic potential; moreover, they are the basis for the medical and scientific use of cannabis, since their positive effects have been explored in a considerably long period of time.
KANOIL hemp oils contain CBD (Cannabidiol), do not contain THC (9-delta tetrahydrocannabinol) responsible for the psychotropic effect; or may contain it in low concentrations below 0, 2%, which is considered non-significant.
KANOIL hemp oils have a strictly controlled composition of cannabinoids. Besides CBD and its carboxylate form CBDA (Cannabidiol acid), there is also CBN (Cannabinol), CBG (Cannabigerol) and other cannabinoids present in the plant.
CBD
Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most important Phyto cannabinoid and second most prevalent cannabinoid in different drugs derived from the hemp plant. In cannabis, CBD is present in concentrations in the range from 0.5 to 2 % in the upper third of the plant and the flowers.
In Germany and many other countries, hemp producers are allowed to raise cannabis with high CBD and low THC concentrations intended for fiber or industrial raw material production, while hemp seeds are used for the production of vegetable oil.
Recently interest is increased for the therapeutic potential of CBD, since it causes no psychotropic effects and no relevant side-effects, even in high doses. Several clinical studies have been conducted so far; however, basic research suggests potential therapeutic use in a wide range of diseases or symptoms.
Endocannabinoid System and Action of the Cannabidiol (CBD)
Endocannabinoid system (ECS) is widely spread in the human body. It regulates wide number of physiological processes through: CB1, CB2 receptors, endogenous ligands (eCBs) and a system of enzymes (transporters, biosynthetic, degrading enzymes) all involved in the endocannabinoid metabolism. Cannabidiol mechanism of action is not entirely clear; undoubtedly it is extremely complex, none the less it manifests numerous positive health effects in human organism:
