General Info

WHAT IS FORVITA® ZINC 15 AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR

Zinc is essential oligoelement necessary for normal functioning of the body. Zinc should be taken with food or by using food supplements considering that it is not created, nor deposited in the body.

Taken through food, zinc is second most prevailing mineral in the body (after the iron), which is present in each cell and is necessarily needed for proper growth and development, for several metabolic processes of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids, for the synthesis of DNK and cell division, as well as for protection from the oxidative stress and for several other biological reactions.

Zinc is necessary for the functioning of the immune system. Also, zinc is very important for the maintenance of the vision, structure of the skin, hair and nails, for the reproductive development, brain functions, as well as for many other processes in the body.

The adequate intake of zinc is particularly important in vegetarians, vegans and individuals with life style which includes consumption of bigger quantity of cereals, legumes and similar food which contains phytates – compounds which decrease the zinc absorption.

Due to increased daily requirements for zinc in children, pregnant women and breastfeeding women, particular attention should be paid on its intake.
